  New Students visit

Beacon Hill Nursery School is a community rich in diversity and committed to creating an environment that inspires children, families, and staff. While siblings of current students, former students, and children of alumni are given special consideration in admissions, as are residents of Beacon Hill, many new families, with no previous relationship to the school join the BHNS community each year. The executive director and associate director make admissions decisions weighing all criteria and considerations enumerated above, but shall retain the discretion to select families in a manner that, in their judgement, best serves the overall needs and goals of the school.

Beacon Hill Nursery School does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, religion, cultural heritage, political beliefs, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, or marital status.

Applications
Applications for admission to the Beacon Hill Nursery School, accompanied by a $50 application fee, may be submitted beginning September 15 of the year prior to entry and must be received by January 5. Applications for siblings and legacies must be received by October 15 to receive special consideration.

Parent Tours
The associate director will contact families to schedule a visit to the school upon receipt of application. These visits take place starting October 15th through the early winter. The visits consist of a tour of the school, an opportunity to observe in a classroom and an interview with the executive director and the associate director.

Enrollment notification and waitlist
With the exception of siblings who are admitted in mid-December, enrollment contracts are sent out in mid-March. A signed contract with a deposit ensures a child's enrollment for the fall. If the school is unable to offer an enrollment contract due to the number of applicants, the child may be placed on a waiting list. Children from the wait list will be admitted whenever spaces should become available.

Visits for enrolled children
In the spring, enrolled children will visit the school in small groups. This serves as their introduction to BHNS and is helpful to the school in class placement decisions.

Visits are scheduled on an individual basis for children who are enrolled in late spring or summer. It is necessary for each child to visit the school prior to the school year.
